Steel Surface Preparation

Steel as a material when subjected to environmental conditions - such as sea water, oil, and even the weather - needs routine maintenance to protect it against oxidation and contaminients that could in time cause it to fail.

SPE Contracting have undertaken numerous steel based projects where surface contaminents and failed coatings need to be removed prior to a new surface coating application.

We are renowned for our reliability in preparation of oils and storage tanks involving the use of both horizontal and vertical captive blasting techniques allowing complete surface preparation from top to bottom. But we are also equally at home in preparation of ship hulls and decks, steel bridge decks and walkways, heli-decks, oil rig platforms - in fact almost any application that utilises horizontal / vertical steel surfaces.

Typical steel preparation tasks include:

Corrosion removal
Removal of failed coatings
Non-skid removal
Blast Quality - Inspection
Blast Quality - SA2
Blast Quality - SA2 1/2
Blast Quality - SA3
