Over time, exposure to the environment and stored media can result in the
reduced efficiency & performance of storage tanks. This is especially so in
the petro-chemical industry where for example the build up of corrosion & oil
residue on internal walls may reduce the efficiency of seals on floating roofs and
environmental damage to exterior surface coatings may lead to problems with structural
integrity.
SPE Contracting Ltd. are one of the only companies operating on
a world-wide basis offering a complete service in the removal of old coatings &
deposits from storage tanks - both internally and externally. Further, the state-of-the-art
equipment at our disposal allows us to offer a dust free & environmentally
friendly solution.
In depth knowledge of the the type of material and task processes are essential
in formulating an optimal, efficient & cost effective surface preparation solution,
and with SPE Contracting, this is assured.
The SPE V2 type vertical autoblast machine is used to blast clean
the internal shell of oil storage tanks from the floor to your desired height. The
blast head is mounted in a mobile framework and the SPE V2 is driven around the
perimeter of the tank during the blast cleaning process. As one pass is completed
the blast head is raised inside the framework and the process repeated.
This is the only system manufactured worldwide specifically for this purpose.
With vacuum powered dust collection, the process is once again: totally enclosed,
highly efficient, dust free & environmentally friendly.
In the field of operation, the SPE V2 is extremely efficient blasting at a rate
of 25 - 30m2 per hour up to an SA2.5 standard. Whilst electrically &
mechanically complying with the general safety requirements of the petro-chemical
industry, the SPE V2 can easily be adjusted to suit any site specific regulation.
The 350 VH remote controlled vertical autoblast machine
is designed for the blasting of large vertical / near vertical surfaces (both external
& internal). Suspended via a rigging system or crane, the 350 VH operates in
an up/down motion; ideal for the profiling of steel tanks.
In operation, a high velocity stream of abrasive is propelled toward the surface
to be cleaned by the centrifugal force generated via a radially mounted, high speed
blast-wheel. Once impacted on the work surface, abrasive rebounds back into the
machine where it is separated from the dust & debris and returned to the abrasive
storage hopper for re-use. The remaining dust & debris is safely vacuumed to
a dust collection unit where it is collected and disposed.
A working width of 350mm combined with fast blast rates ensure a quick & efficient
process delivering the finish required up to SA2.5. Abrasive loss and dust emissions
are kept to a minimum by specially designed magnets attached to the machine that
pull it toward the steel work. The overall process is therefore totally enclosed,
highly efficient, dust free & environmentally friendly.
SPE Contracting carry a vast range of horizontal blast machines
with blasting widths from 9" to 20" with different powered options that
allow us to blast clean internal tank floors in a manner that suits a clients particular
safety requirements.
All are designed to operate with both cost effectiveness and efficiency in a captive
blasting process, collecting dust and debris for easy disposal making for a highly
reliable environmentally friendly solution. They can also be dismantled
with ease to pass through a 600mm access hole.
Mill scale, rust and surface contaminants can be removed with ease at fast blast
rates to leave a cleaned surface to SA2.5 standard (although the machines themselves
are capable of blasting to SA3 standard).
The exterial roof surface of a storage tank is directly exposed to the outside elements.
Even with coned roofs, the exterior needs to be cleaned to remove
surface deposits and contaminants prior to a new protective coating being applied.
SPE Contracting has a vast amount of experience to draw upon enabling
us to tackle some of the most complex task safely and with speed. Whether your storage
system utilises floating roofs or coned roofs, you can be assured of a high quality
surface preparation solution.
